I have finally managed to convince my advisor to finalize the paper I was writing recently. The preprint is available online here. I have been doing this project for more than a year, in fact I have published another paper in the mean time which I started much later than this one and of course more simpler. I think this is nothing new in scientific research area but still this project is somewhat special to me.
Here we have developed a new method for calculating the self-energy due to spin and charge fluctuations. The difficulties of this project was getting the self-consistency in the final results as it involves several dimensional integrations of various kinds. Naturally, it took me long time to develop all the necessary theoretical aspects and then translating them into programs. These are all fine to bear, in fact enjoying, but getting the expected results are the most hardest part of this kind of projects when your theory and the corresponding program looks correct but does not give correct results. I used to get frustrated and impatient during those time and even I gave up doing this project several times assuming that this project will lead nowhere.
Then I started to see some flashes of results which was difficult to interpret at that time but somehow looked interesting. Some of those results I showed to my adviser(s) and expectedly they did not give enough attentions. Honestly, I did not pay much awareness either. Then the miracle happened. Early of this year one professor from other university intended to visit our group and he had some quantum Monte Carlo results in the same field. So my advisor asked me to show him some of our results and get feedback. Just one or two days before he will arrive I tried to put some of my results in a 'writeup' with a little explanations to them but without any introduction, conclusion and with not even a carefully chosen title. I sent it to my advisor for corrections but he assumed that I am trying to write a paper here. He added some more text (intro etc) and some corrections and suggestions with an astonishing statement which goes something like this 'Tanmoy, I have written the introduction for this paper but you should try to write these things by yourself first.'
That is how this paper got its new birth and I did not step back even a little bit to make it finalized. We have sent the paper to PRL.

Good work Tanmoy. I hope you'll get it published in PRL.
